A sus 25 años, Jasmine Harrison, una joven Rotaria y embajadora de Rotary en el Distrito 1040 (Inglaterra e Irlanda), está desafiando los océanos en la Mini Globe Race, una de las competencias de navegación más exigentes del mundo. Su participación no solo resalta su valentía y determinación, sino que también simboliza el papel crucial de las mujeres jóvenes en Rotary: líderes, aventureras y agentes de cambio.
En su travesía, Jasmine llegó a Shelter Bay, Colón, donde fue recibida por una delegación del Club Rotario Cristóbal Colón, encabezada por su presidente, el Dr. José Guillermo Chong, y el socio Mario Fernández. Durante su estancia en la ciudad de Colón, compartirá con la comunidad antes de continuar su recorrido por el Océano Pacífico.
Los veleros de la competencia serán trasladados a la Ciudad de Panamá, donde aguardan la confirmación del puerto de salida para la siguiente etapa de la carrera.
Pero Jasmine no solo desafía los mares; también inspira en tierra firme. Como nadadora profesional y profesora de natación, ofrecerá clínicas gratuitas para niños y niñas en Colón. Y, con el espíritu de servicio que caracteriza a los Rotarios, se ha unido al Club Rotario Cristóbal Colón para la entrega de mochilas escolares en una escuela de Río Indio.

Jasmine Harrison: A Rotarian Breaking Barriers in the Mini Globe Race ⛵🌍💙
At just 25 years old, Jasmine Harrison, a young Rotarian and ambassador of Rotary in District 1040 (England and Ireland), is taking on the challenge of the Mini Globe Race, one of the toughest sailing competitions in the world. Her participation not only showcases her courage and determination but also highlights the vital role of young women in Rotary: leaders, adventurers, and changemakers.
During her journey, Jasmine arrived at Shelter Bay, Colón, where she was warmly welcomed by a delegation from the Rotary Club of Cristóbal Colón, led by its president, Dr. José Guillermo Chong, and member Mario Fernández. She will spend a few days in the city before continuing her journey across the Pacific Ocean.
The race’s sailboats will be transported to Panama City, where they are awaiting confirmation of the departure port for the next stage of the race.
But Jasmine is not only challenging the seas; she is inspiring on land as well. As a professional swimmer and swim instructor, she will be offering free swimming clinics for children in Colón. And, embracing the Rotary spirit of service, she has joined the Rotary Club of Cristóbal Colón to distribute school backpacks to children in Río Indio.
